The SFFA is holding a collaborated field day/ workshop with the Lismore City Council, Wetland Care Australia on one of our project sites located at Gundarimba, NSW. Rehabilitation works currently underway are from a combined effort from the landholder and the 3 main project partners towards rehabilitation of the riparian zone that surrounds the site, planting buffers and restoring native corridors in a mostly cleared landscape. The landholder is particularly keen to have neighbours attend to demonstrate the integration of farming and land rehabilitation is achievable.

RESTORATION FIELD DAY, 18th October, 2014, Upper Coopers Creek, NSW
Tour of one of the properties involved in the Biodiversity Connections project and hear more about the landholder’s creekside restoration efforts and achievements so far. The tour will last from 9am-12pm, followed by a morning tea provided by the Subtropical Farm Forestry Association. See flyer for more information and to register your attendance.
BIG SCRUB RAINFOREST DAY, 12th October, 2014, Rocky Creek Dam, NSW
The Biodiversity Connections team will be at the Big Scrub Rainforest Day. This celebration of rainforests and the environment is now in its 16th year and is getting better every year. It includes walks and talks, tours, workshops, food stalls and lots of family activities. Click the image for more info.
PRIMEX, 19-21st June, 2014, Casino, NSW
The Biodiversity Connections team attended PRIMEX (the primary industry exhibition) in June along with the Subtropical Farm Forestry Association. We spoke to many landholders interested in conducting a biodiversity tree planting on their property. Currently, we are in the process of contacting those who filled out an expression of interest form.
GPS Field Day & Mapping Workshop, 22nd March, 2014, Corndale & Lismore, NSW
On 22nd March 2014 a GPS data collection field day was held at one of Biodiversity Connection’s project sites at Corndale, NSW. This was followed by a mapping workshop held at Southern Cross University. The field day and workshop taught participants:
- How to use GPS functionality in land management and planning
- GPS data collection planning
- Saving and protecting the collected data
- How to set up monitoring plots
- Navigating to a known point
- How to produce a basic Google Earth Map from the data collected
